I am starting a series of sketches to countdown my 50 favorite films (currently). This series will be quick 30 minute ink sketches to keep me busy when I have free sketch time. I will try to post 1 or 2 a week if I can keep up. So these are my favorite films, not necessarily the “best” or “greatest of all time” films. These are all equal parts, nostalgia, excitement, rewatchability, and appreciation.
So first up is my #50 pick.
IP MAN (2008)
This is a semi-biographical story of Yip Man, the first martial arts master to teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun. He was also one of the teachers of the great Bruce Lee. This movie has everything, heart, passion, great choreography, and a superb performance by Donnie Yen. Make sure you opt out of the dubbed version please and watch it in it’s native language.
