James • Novembrrr

My final Novembrrr sketch is here, I actually made this one to resemble those old japanese samurai art scrolls.  added some colorful shapes in the background and wrote Forever Winter in Japanese and there you go!  It’s been a fun month full of snowy art.  Let’s just hope it doesn’t really snow too much this winter!

Oni • Novembrrr

Tony Sedani here for week 4 of Forever Winter Novembrrr.  I decided to go digital this week.  I drew Oni, the badass, well dressed menace.  I pulled back a bit to show the setting (something I have been trying to do in all of my art as of late). Not much else to say except Oni got a nice vantage point on top of this Red Line train car.  Happy Thanksgiving all!

Noah • Novembrrr

Noah.  Sometimes when I think of Joel’s Forever Winter, Noah just seems to always come to mind.  He may not even be that big of a character, but when Joel created him he stuck. If there is one character that I have drawn more than my Return to Rander character it is Noah.  Perhaps it’s the mysterious gas mask he wears, or the hording mentality that keeps him going, and maybe the fact that his knowledge is power in a dog eat dog world. Whatever it is, I have a feeling he will be a fan favorite!

I went traditional again this week, and stuck to my variety of grey copic sketch markers.

Forever Winter on the Charles

Tony Sedani here for round two of Novembrrr.   I decided to do a different kind of character from Joel’s Forever winter saga.  Boston itself.  The setting is a pretty big part of Joel’s story and he puts all kinds of detail into making sure you recognize everything about it.  Here I showed the Charles river frozen over and most likely an easy way for people to cross the river.  As I assume the bridge is riddled with cars and trucks clogging it up.  Also adding some cruel irony that  people would walk across the snow rather than the bridge which it was meant for.

I made this with pen ink and some copic sketch markers as per usual.  I may do a digital card in one of the coming weeks.  Till next week, stay frosty!

Marlee • Novembrrr

My first Forever winter sketch for Novembrrr is Marlee. I did a backup story for Joel’s book a few years back and involved this character Marlee.  He is heir to an organzied crime syndicate.  When I first thougt about him, I just pictured a no good whiny brat that got everything handed to him.  But then you start to think about the setting.  The type of world it is.  It doesn’t really seem like a world where people get spoiled, it’s a dog eat dog world out there.  And Marlee probably just wants to take what is his.  And considering what is going on in the backup story I worked on, I can see Marlee will have some difficult decisions he must think about.  Hence why I drew him in this situation like he is extremly stressed out.  So hopefully this month of Novembrrr will make Joel even more pumped to draw FW2 and we will get it even sooner!  Great job Joel, on creating a great universe of interesting characters.  See you next week!

Stock•Pile Sketch Week • Forever Winter

I figured I would start with Mr. Joel Lolar’s Forever Winter. I have known Joel now for 15 years, and have watched this project evolve for the past 10.  It was a great day that Joel came by my work and we had lunch and he showed me a freshly printed Forever Winter #1 with all that hard work he put into it.  It was a great sight to see.  Currently Joel has banded together with fellow Kubert School students to assemble Stock•Pile comics over at www.stockpilecomics.com, so go check out their books and purchase a few!  I will be posting a pinup sketch of each of their projects for the rest of the week!
