As fate would have it, my studio has been drenched. I had to dispose of many bookcases, supplies, books, amongst dealing with damaged goods. I haven’t had as much time to work on Rander stuff since I don’t have anywhere comfortable to work, so this week I am going to share something I was going to wait on. But why not get it out there today! Here is the finished cover to the upcoming Return to Rander 300 page complete edition! Let me know what you think!
As promised, this week I am sharing with you the finished product of the Return to Rander trading cards that will be part of the Stockpile Comics trading card series 1 set. Look for them in the upcoming con season!
Now that it is February, I’m starting to get things going for the upcoming con season. I will be returning to Heroes 2018 with the Stock*Pile crew which is very exciting. I have a lot to get done before that show including finishing the new Return to Rander book, Skin Deep 2, and some extra stuff that I am excited to make. Today, I’m sharing the beginning stages of artwork for the Matador trading card in the Stock*Pile Comics trading card Series 1 set. I still have some work to do on it, plus color it.
Welcome to the 39th edition of “Sunday in Rander” where I show you stuff from my comic! This week I bring to you the inks to Issue #2!!!. Next episode I will show you the finished cover with colors by the great Jesse Munoz, as well as the logo. This is the second cover I made for this issue. The original didn’t have Matador on it, and I felt that he needed to be there. I am pretty happy with the design (which I paid homage to the great Gil Kane’s Star Wars cover). Thanks for looking, see you next week!
Wrapping up this great weekend is another edition of Sunday in Rander. This week I bring you another mini strip. Another bar tale. Another look at “The Matador”. These little mini’s are a fun way to do warm ups or draw something else when I get bored of doing regular pages. I also love mini comics because they convey a small idea, something that you wouldn’t need to spend more time on. Keep your eyes peeled soon for a very special Sunday in Rander where I will be revealing the cover to issue #2!
This past Tuesday I attended the Comicazi Drink & Draw over in Davis Square in Cambridge. Met some cool local comic creators, drank a few pints and put pen to paper. This was my warm up for the night, and I actually started doing a page for Issue 2 at the event! Boston Comic Con is THIS Saturday & Sunday! I will be selling copies of Issue #1, Full Color Prints, Original Artwork, Mini Comics, Giving away stickers, mini prints and more! So come to the Comic Con and get your geek on.
Last episode of June brings to you a panel in progress! I worked on this panel today, and gives a grissly look at what is to come. Frustrations are high as the chase continues. I don’t want there to be any context in terms of who this happens to and when, so don’t ask. Just know, that yes, the Matador returns for issue 2 and is pissed. I have now told enough people that I plan to release issue 2 sometime in November. Sharing it here will only keep me more motivated to make that date! I plan to get a lot of the finished pages scanned and start setting up the layout of the issue and throw in some dailogue. I’ll keep you all posted for sure! Till next week, Happy 4th of July!
Finally we have reached 2013, the year of Rander! This week’s episode will show you an actual page out of the back of issue #1! This is going to be some extra stuff you get aside from the story. Also please check out http://www.facebook.com/returntorander and LIKE the comic. I will be posting exclusive things just to the facebook page, including a 5 page preview of issue 1 next week!
As I said earlier I won’t be doing as much daily sketches for this sketch blog because I will be drawing Return to Rander Issue 1 with all my free time. I decided to create a weekly preview day called “Sunday in Rander”. I will post stuff I am working on from the book to let people follow the progress. So check back every Sunday for a preview to issue 1, debuting in April!
What follows is a panel featuring the villain of the story, he is known as The Matador (thanks dax) but his actual name is Dimitri
